Consultations on the Chungnam Visit Year and Handling of Suggestions
Chungnam Province has begun earnest efforts to share major policy issues and promote mutual cooperation between the province and its cities and counties.
On the afternoon of the 14th, Chungnam Province held the '2025 1st Provincial-City/County Policy Issue Coordination Meeting' in the main conference room of the provincial government office, presided over by the newly appointed Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs, Park Jungjoo, with the participation of deputy mayors and deputy county heads from 15 cities and counties in the province, as well as directors and heads of departments from the provincial government.
This meeting, organized to strengthen the system of sharing and cooperation on key issues between the province and its cities and counties, included: △ a report and discussion on the status of the 2025-2026 Chungnam Visit Year △ sharing of progress on suggestions made during the third year of the 8th popularly elected administration's city/county visits △ consultations on cooperation measures for current issues and proposals for urgent tasks from the cities and counties.
Regarding the Chungnam Visit Year, the province and its cities and counties agreed to focus their administrative efforts on building a system that effectively promotes Chungnam's unique food, attractions, and experiences, and to improve convenience and satisfaction for tourists visiting Chungnam.
There was also a discussion on the 451 suggestions raised during Governor Kim Taeheum's third-year city and county visits under the 8th popularly elected administration, focusing on closely monitoring the projects classified by the province for mid- to long-term action to ensure they lead to tangible measures.
At this first policy issue coordination meeting, the province shared 24 key provincial issues, including: △ conversion to a year-round submission system for the 2025 Provincial Citizen Participation Budget project proposals △ the "Strong Chungnam" Renewable Energy 100 (RE100) initiative △ the creation of a smart farm complex for young farmers, and requested cooperation from the cities and counties.
The cities and counties shared promotional items and agreed to cooperate with the province, including: △ renewal of the Daecheon Beach Sky Bike facility △ the Hongseong Namdanghang Sajo Clam Seafood Festival (February 7 - April 7) △ the Seocheon Camellia Flower and Webfoot Octopus Festival (March 15-30) △ the Nonsan Strawberry Festival (March 27-30) △ the UNESCO 10th Anniversary Gijisi Jultagi (Rope Pulling) Festival (April 10-13) △ the Cheonan K-Culture Expo (May 21-25).
Vice Governor Park Jungjoo stated, "I urge everyone to actively pursue provincial issues, such as making all-out efforts to secure next year's national funding, supporting small business financing and cooperating for the swift execution of local budgets to revitalize the local economy and boost domestic demand," and added, "Going forward, I will work closely with the deputy heads of the cities and counties to join forces for the development of a stronger Chungnam and the happiness of our residents."
