Gijang-gun Sends 'Local Tax Delinquency Notice' via KakaoTalk

12,000 Taxpayers with Expired Reminder Periods
"One-Stop Service for Arrears Verification and Payment"

Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 14th that it will start the 'KakaoTalk Delinquency Notification Service' from February to provide information on local tax arrears and improve payment convenience.

The county plans to send notification letters to about 12,000 taxpayers whose reminder period has expired this month, with the total amount of arrears for the recipients reaching approximately 6.3 billion won.

Through this KakaoTalk notification service, taxpayers can quickly and easily check their local tax arrears anytime and anywhere via their mobile phones, and they can also make real-time payments for the arrears.

In particular, this service allows access to the notification only after identity verification through fingerprint recognition or password input, reducing the risk of personal information leakage. Additionally, it can notify delinquency details to residents living outside their registered addresses and those staying overseas, who previously could not receive postal mail, thus expectedly solving the issue of undelivered postal notifications.

A Gijang-gun official stated, "With the introduction of this KakaoTalk delinquency notification service, we expect budget savings from reduced paper notices and an increase in delinquency collection rates due to improved payment convenience," adding, "We will pursue various support measures to provide more convenient and efficient tax services to our residents."
