Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Holds 'Customer Appreciation Briefing'

Gathering Shipping Company Opinions, Strengthening Cooperation with Logistics Firms

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Authority, President Park Sunghyun) announced that on the 12th, it held the '2025 YGPA Excellent Service DAY' (hereinafter Y.E.S. DAY) customer appreciation briefing session for the TOP 10 shipping companies and major logistics companies using Gwangyang Port.

Y.E.S. DAY has been promoted since 2022 to strengthen close cooperation with shipping and logistics companies and to share strategies for the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Gwangyang Port.

The event consisted of ▲appreciation remarks and presentation of commemorative plaques ▲viewing of the Yeosu Gwangyang Port promotional video ▲gathering opinions for port development, with a focus on discussing the actual needs and improvement plans of shipping companies and logistics firms.

During the session for hearing shipping company opinions, strategies and operational improvement measures for revitalizing the Gwangyang Port container terminal were mainly discussed. There was active Q&A with high interest in major development projects such as the Yulchon Convergence Logistics Complex development plan and the construction and operation of the fully automated terminal at Gwangyang Port Phase 3-2.

In addition, opinions were expressed on issues directly experienced by shipping companies, such as the opening of new routes and increased vessel calls, boosting regional cargo shipments, and improvements in port operations.

In discussions with logistics companies, opinions were exchanged on expanding the global logistics network through Gwangyang Port and on customized logistics support policies.

In particular, regarding the key issue of attracting regional cargo to Gwangyang Port, it was suggested that problems such as 'lack of routes and vessel capacity' and 'imbalance in empty container supply and demand' should be addressed first through the opening of new routes and securing more vessel capacity, and that competitive logistics costs compared to other ports should be actively promoted.

The Authority plans to actively reflect the voices of shipping and logistics companies through this event and to develop practical support measures to strengthen port competitiveness.

President Park Sunghyun stated, "In 2025, we will actively promote the 'One Shipping Company, One Route+(Attraction)' campaign and further strengthen cooperation with logistics companies," adding, "We will expand customized support policies so that shipping and logistics companies can trust and use Gwangyang Port more actively."

Meanwhile, Yeosu Gwangyang Port recorded a container throughput of 2.01 million TEU last year, a 7.8% increase from the previous year, showing the highest growth rate among the four major ports in Korea. The Authority plans to further strengthen cooperation with shipping and logistics companies to lay the foundation for continued growth in the future.
