Kyeongil University (President Jeong Hyun-tae) established a men's volleyball team under the KIU Sports Club and held the inauguration ceremony on the 13th at the university's International Conference Hall.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by President Jeong Hyun-tae, headquarters officials, Kang Young-geun, Chairman of the Gyeongsan City Sports Council, Kim Young-gon, Chairman of the Gyeongsan City Volleyball Association, and other related personnel. The event proceeded with guest congratulatory speeches, the president's encouragement address, introduction of coaches and student athletes, and the presentation of the team flag.
The Kyeongil University men's volleyball team, established as a professional sports team, consists of a total of 10 players, and the head coach is former national team player Bang Ji-seop, who was a towering setter and a pillar of Korean volleyball.
President Jeong Hyun-tae of Kyeongil University stated, "Kyeongil University operates sports teams in major disciplines such as soccer, baseball, and swimming, bringing new vitality and innovation to university sports. Through the establishment of the men's volleyball team, we aim to expand the base of men's volleyball in Korea, improve performance, and focus on nurturing professional talent."
With the establishment of the men's volleyball team, Kyeongil University now operates a total of nine sports teams under the KIU Sports Club, including soccer, baseball, swimming, curling, taekwondo, women's volleyball, American football, and jiu-jitsu. The university also offers seven departments within the 'SMART College of Sports,' a sports college, including the Department of Sports Rehabilitation Medicine and the Department of Fitness Industry.
