Taewoong Co., Ltd. Takes Over Relay Baton as 5th Participant in Busan-Style Good Payment Campaign

Heo Wook Prepays at Three Restaurants in Myeongji Market
Next Relay Participant: Cho Young-jun, CEO of Wooyang Fisheries

"Employees' lunch expenses are paid in advance."

On the 12th, Heo Wook, CEO of Taewoong Co., Ltd., became the fifth private company to join the 'Busan-style Good Payment Campaign,' which Busan City is actively promoting.

On that day, CEO Heo visited Myeongji Market with the Director of the Economic Bureau of Gangseo District Office and contributed to revitalizing the local economy by prepaying staff meal expenses at three restaurants.

Since its establishment in 1981, Taewoong Co., Ltd. has supplied high-quality steel products to domestic and international clients across various industries such as shipbuilding, nuclear power, wind power, petrochemical plants, and aerospace. It is a hometown company that has continued steady growth by contributing to the growth of key industries and the development of the local economy.

The company is also actively engaged in community contributions. Starting with a donation of 100 million KRW to Busan City in 2008, it has been working to revitalize the local economy through purchasing local agricultural products and organizing kimchi-sharing events. Since 2012, it has operated the 'Taewoong Sharing Volunteer Society,' composed of executives and employees, which visits a nursing care facility for the elderly in Gangseo District once a month to carry out volunteer activities and practice sharing.

CEO Heo said, "I hope this will provide practical help to local small business owners and self-employed people, and through promoting consumption, I expect Busan to become a warmer and better city to live in."

CEO Heo passed the next relay baton to Cho Young-jun, CEO of Wooyang Fisheries Co., Ltd. Wooyang Fisheries, established in 1982, is a mid-sized fisheries company in Busan operating large purse seine fishing. Through its subsidiary Wooyang Industrial Development and the exchange-listed company Segi Trading, it operates the Gyeongju Hilton Hotel, Chungmuro Daehan Theater, and Wooyang Art Museum.

The Busan-style Good Payment Campaign, in which private companies participate, is conducted by prepaying at local regular restaurants, cafes, and other small business stores and promising to revisit, and it runs until February. A 'Good Payment Certification Event' is also underway to expand citizen participation.

Citizens who wish to participate can prepay 100,000 KRW or more at Busan-area businesses by April 6, then register payment receipts and business coupons as certification materials on the city’s website and leave messages supporting small business owners.

Large marts, department stores, online shopping malls, and businesses outside Busan City are excluded from the event, and duplicate or multiple entries are not allowed. A drawing is held every Wednesday for participants who registered from Monday to Sunday of the previous week, selecting 78 winners weekly who receive Dongbaekjeon policy support funds worth 50,000 KRW (3 people), 30,000 KRW (5 people), and 10,000 KRW (70 people).

Kim Bong-cheol, Director of the Digital Economy Office of Busan City, said, "Recently, the voluntary participation of private companies in the campaign has been a great help in revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We will continue to prepare various measures to inject vitality into the economy."
