Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it will implement a child meal support project to provide stable meals for children at risk of skipping meals.
The child meal support project is designed to help children grow up healthy by providing side dishes and supplementary foods during the school term and vacations to children from vulnerable groups who are at risk of missing meals.
Starting this year, Hampyeong County will increase the meal support cost per child to 9,500 won to improve the quality of meals and offer a variety of meal services. The county will also openly recruit an agency to carry out the support project until the 21st.
The agency will be recruited from among social welfare foundations and organizations located in Hampyeong County. Hampyeong County plans to select the agency through a review committee in March.
The selected agency will run the project for three years, from April this year to March 2028. The project includes providing side dishes and supplementary foods once a week during weekends, public holidays, and summer and winter vacations, as well as delivering them directly to households to ensure hygiene and prevent food poisoning.
To apply, agencies should refer to the notices section on the Hampyeong County website and submit the required documents, such as the application form and business plan, to the Family Happiness Division of Hampyeong County.
Lee Sangik, the governor of Hampyeong County, said, "The child meal support project will be a great support for children, helping not only their growth but also their mental health," and added, "We will continue to make Hampyeong County a place where children can grow up without worries."
