Autopsy Reveals Haneul Died from Multiple Sharp Force Injuries
The police have decided to expand the investigation into the murder of first-grade student Kim Haneul at an elementary school in Daejeon to a dedicated task force system.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 12th that it would form a dedicated investigation team led by the chief of the Daejeon Seobu Police Station, with detectives from the Seobu station, the Daejeon Metropolitan Police detective unit, and the cyber investigation unit all participating.
In particular, the cyber investigation unit will conduct 24-hour monitoring of defamatory and malicious comments related to the victim's family, and will take strict action against any violations of the law.
Additionally, at the request of the victim's family, the police have asked broadcasting stations to display captions urging restraint from posting malicious comments.
The police have completed questioning some school staff, including after-school care teachers, and have seized the mobile phone of the teacher (aged 40) suspected of killing Kim at the scene on the day of the incident for digital forensic analysis.
On the morning of the same day, the police also conducted a search and seizure at the teacher's residence and other locations, and are currently analyzing the confiscated items.
Earlier that morning, the autopsy of Haneul revealed that the cause of death was "death due to multiple sharp force injuries," indicating that she died after being wounded several times with a sharp object.
