Ranked First Among Cities in Gyeongnam Province and Second Overall in Disaster Safety Inspection Assessment
Efforts in Seasonal and Timely Safety Inspections Prove Yangsan as a Flawless Safe City
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province has proven itself as a thoroughly safe city by achieving international safety city certification, ranking first in the nationwide regional safety index for the living safety sector, and recently receiving the top evaluation among cities in the province in the ‘2024 City and County Disaster Safety Inspection Implementation Status’ assessment conducted by Gyeongnam Province.
This evaluation was conducted across 18 cities and counties in the province, covering overall disaster safety inspection tasks for social disaster prevention, including ▲seasonal and timely safety inspection implementation ▲Facility Safety Act and Type 3 facility status investigation and inspection ▲water play safety management ▲local festival safety management ▲children’s playground safety management ▲operation and management of crisis management manuals in the disaster sector.
In particular, Yangsan City received high scores in the areas of seasonal and timely safety inspection implementation, children’s playground safety management, and Type 3 facility status investigation and inspection under the Facility Safety Act, earning 97.66 points and ranking first among the 18 cities in Gyeongnam and second overall in the province.
In 2024, Yangsan City established seasonal and timely safety inspection plans during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, as well as the thawing period, conducting joint public-private inspections at 231 traditional markets and multi-use facilities. The city also inspected and continuously managed 658 children’s playgrounds and 102 Type 3 facilities, striving to build a safe city.
A city official stated, “The high evaluation Yangsan City received in the 2024 disaster safety inspection sector is the result of efforts to build a flawless safe city. We will continue to do our best to protect the lives and property of citizens from various social disasters.”
