Ordinance to Bridge the Information Gap Passes Standing Committee
The ordinance titled "Ordinance to Guarantee the Right to Know for Persons with Disabilities and Their Guardians and to Bridge the Information Gap," proposed by Gwangju Seo-gu Council member Ahn Hyeongju (Sangmu 2-dong, Seochang-dong, Kumho 1·2-dong), has been passed as originally drafted by the relevant standing committee.
According to the Seo-gu Council on the 12th, this ordinance was established to guarantee the right to know for persons with disabilities and their guardians, who are considered information-vulnerable groups, and to support easy access to digital information, thereby improving quality of life and bridging the information gap.
The main contents include the purpose and definitions of the ordinance, the responsibilities of the district mayor, the establishment and implementation of action plans and surveys to bridge the information gap, support and delegation of tasks such as providing education and job information, and matters related to publicity.
Ahn stated, "Persons with disabilities and their guardians, as information-vulnerable groups, face difficulties in accessing digital information, so it is necessary to address this," and added, "I hope that by guaranteeing and supporting their access to information, all members of Seo-gu will be able to enjoy benefits equally."
