Fertility Test Support Increased from Once to Three Times
Eligibility for Foreigners Also Relaxed
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 12th that it will expand the 'Pre-pregnancy Health Management' support program, which has been in effect since April last year, starting this year.
This project aims to detect health risk factors that may hinder pregnancy and childbirth early and to support fertility testing fees to promote reproductive health.
Previously, support was provided once in a lifetime to couples preparing for pregnancy (including common-law and prospective couples), but starting this year, all men and women aged 20 to 49 who wish to undergo testing can receive support up to three times in their lifetime periodically, regardless of marital status or number of children.
The pregnancy cycles are divided into ▲1st cycle for those under 29 ▲2nd cycle for ages 30 to 34 ▲3rd cycle for ages 35 to 49. Women can receive up to 130,000 KRW for ovarian function tests (AMH) and gynecological ultrasounds (ovaries, uterus, etc.), while men can receive up to 50,000 KRW for semen analysis.
For foreigners, previously only those with Korean spouses holding F-2 (residence), F-5 (permanent residency), or F-6 (marriage) visas were eligible, but starting this year, support is available regardless of visa type as long as they have a Korean spouse.
Applicants wishing to receive support must visit a public health center or apply through the 'Public Health Portal (e-Health Center)' to obtain a test referral form. After undergoing testing at a participating medical institution nationwide, they must submit the test fee claim to the public health center within one month.
