26 Public Facilities Including Daycare Centers, Health Clinics, and Senior Centers
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 12th that it will actively promote the "Green Remodeling Support Project for Aging Public Buildings," led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, this year.
The green remodeling project supports the installation of high-performance windows, high-efficiency insulation materials, and ventilation systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in aging senior centers, public health centers, and national/public daycare centers that are more than 10 years old.
This year, 26 public buildings have been selected for support, including the Dongbu Welfare Center Daycare Center, Hasa Health Clinic, and senior centers. The city is investing a total project budget of 5.5 billion KRW (3.5 billion KRW from the national government and 2 billion KRW from the city) and is actively implementing the project starting in the first half of the year.
The city is also conducting a preliminary survey for additional green remodeling projects for public buildings next year, preparing to apply for funding for 60 aging public buildings.
A city official stated, "We will do our best to create a safe environment in public buildings where children and the elderly can use the facilities with peace of mind, through sustainable green architecture policies that respond to climate change."
Meanwhile, since the launch of the public building green remodeling project in 2020, the city has completed projects at 17 sites, including public health centers and daycare centers.
