Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 12th that it will provide public benefit allowances for farmers and fishermen to promote management stability for those in the agricultural and fisheries sectors and to revitalize the local economy.
The public benefit allowance for farmers and fishermen is a subsidy given to compensate for the public and multifaceted value of agriculture, fisheries, and rural areas, such as securing food security and preserving the ecological environment, as well as to address rural issues such as population decline and aging.
Previously, the county provided 4.7 billion KRW to 7,849 people in 2023 and 4.78 billion KRW to 7,978 people in 2024. This year, a total of 4.9 billion KRW will be distributed to those among the 8,195 applicants who pass the eligibility review.
According to the "Hampyeong County Public Benefit Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen Payment Ordinance," the county will review eligibility based on five criteria, and after deliberation by the Hampyeong County Public Benefit Allowance Committee in early March, plans to provide Hampyeong Love Gift Certificates worth 600,000 KRW.
County Governor Lee Sangik stated, "The public benefit allowance for farmers and fishermen will be a great help in stabilizing the management of those in the agriculture and fisheries sectors and revitalizing the local economy during this time of high prices," and added, "We will continue our efforts to make Hampyeong a better city for farmers and fishermen to live in."
