Kia announced on the 12th that it will reveal the specifications and pricing of its first authentic pickup, the 'The Kia Tasman,' and begin taking orders from the 13th. Unveiled at the '2024 Jeddah International Motor Show' last October, the Tasman is expected to introduce a new paradigm to the domestic pickup market with its innovative design and excellent product quality.

The Tasman trim names are categorized considering the dynamic characteristics of pickups into ▲Dynamic ▲Adventure ▲Extreme, with a separate X-Pro model specialized for off-road driving. Prices are ▲Dynamic at 37.5 million KRW ▲Adventure at 41.1 million KRW ▲Extreme at 44.9 million KRW, and ▲X-Pro at 52.4 million KRW.

Combining a gasoline 2.5 turbo engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it delivers a maximum output of 281 horsepower (PS) and a peak torque of 43.0 kgf·m, achieving a combined fuel efficiency of 8.6 km/ℓ (based on the base model with 17-inch wheels, 2WD, and without built-in cam).

It also features towing performance capable of hauling up to 3,500 kg, and a tow mode that differentiates shift patterns according to towing weight to optimize ride comfort, shift feel, and fuel consumption efficiency.

By positioning the intake not at the front of the vehicle but inside the upper part of the side fender, it secures water fording capability of 800mm depth at a speed of 7 km/h.

The 4WD system includes terrain modes such as sand, mud, and snow, and uses an 'Auto Terrain Mode' where artificial intelligence assesses the road surface and automatically selects the appropriate driving mode to optimally control the vehicle. The X-Pro features a ground clearance of 252mm, 28mm higher than the base 4WD model, and is equipped with all-terrain tires to support stable driving in rough environments.

Depending on the driver's preference, it offers an electronic locking differential (e-LD) that locks the left and right wheels to rotate at the same speed, 'X-TREK' which maintains low-speed driving as requested by the driver through engine torque and brake hydraulic control, and a 'Rock' mode specialized for mountainous terrain.

Exclusive X-Pro features for rough terrain driving include a 'Ground View Monitor' that displays the lower front road surface on the infotainment screen to assist precise vehicle operation, and an 'Off-Road Page' accessible via the cluster and infotainment system inside the vehicle to check engine and transmission oil temperatures.

Inside, it is equipped with convenience features such as a ccNC-based panoramic wide display, Harman Kardon premium audio system, folding console table, and dual-type wireless charging system.

The cargo space measures 1,512mm in length, 1,572mm in width (1,186mm at the wheelhouse), and 540mm in height, offering approximately 1,173 liters (VDA standard) of space with a maximum load capacity of 700kg. Additionally, Kia plans to offer a variety of genuine customization products to enhance cargo space usability, including single and double-decker canopies, sports bars, bed covers, sliding beds, and side steps.

Furthermore, the Tasman is the first Kia model to include the 'Built-in Cam 2 Plus' with parking motion detection mode and applies remote smart parking assist using a smartphone through Digital Key 2.

Kia has prepared exclusive purchase benefits and customer experience programs to commemorate the start of Tasman orders. For individual and sole proprietor customers who take delivery by June this year, a deferred installment program called '365 Light Installment' is available, allowing interest-only payments for the first year followed by equal principal and interest payments over the next two years. Customers who sign contracts by March will receive a contract deposit coupon worth 100,000 KRW through the 'Tasman Double Care Program.'

A Kia official stated, "The authentic pickup Tasman will set a new standard in the domestic market," adding, "It will enrich customers' diverse lifestyles and provide special value and freedom that can be experienced through a pickup."
