Support for 90% of National Technical and Professional Qualification Exam Fees
For Yeongdeungpo-gu Residents Aged 40 to 64
Unemployed and Non-Entrepreneurs Who Have Lived in the District for Over One Month Eligible
Approximately 800 Types of Exams Covered
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will start a support project for national qualification exam fees to encourage new challenges among middle-aged and older adults.
The program targets residents aged 40 to 64 (born between 1961 and 1985) who have lived in Yeongdeungpo-gu for more than one month as of the application date, and who are currently unemployed and have not started a business.
The eligible qualification exams include a total of about 800 types, comprising 539 national technical qualifications and 247 national professional qualifications. However, the automobile driver's license exam is excluded.
The support amount covers 90% of the exam fee, with a maximum of 100,000 KRW per person. Applicants can apply without limit on the number of times for exams taken after January 1 of this year, helping middle-aged and older adults actively obtain qualifications. The program is scheduled to run until December this year but may close early if the budget is exhausted.
Applications can be submitted via a dedicated email by submitting the application form, personal information consent form, and other required documents. For more details, inquiries can be made through the district office website’s ‘Our District News’ bulletin board or the Job and Economy Division.
To strengthen employment support for residents, the district expanded and reopened the ‘Integrated Job Support Center’ in January. Located on the second floor of Woori Bank in front of the district office, the center covers 188㎡ (about 57 pyeong) and offers one-on-one customized counseling with professional counselors and various support programs. Residents can obtain diverse employment information and explore new opportunities in a comfortable and open space.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We will actively support middle-aged and older adults preparing for new challenges to obtain qualifications without financial burden and expand opportunities for reemployment and entrepreneurship.” He added, “We will continue to provide systematic support so that residents can utilize their abilities and continue economic activities.”
New Crosswalk Installed in Front of Jungmok Elementary School in Jungnang-gu... Enhancing Children's Pedestrian Safety
Existing Pedestrian Overpass Removed, Crosswalk and Traffic Facilities Installed
Safety Facilities Expanded Including Speed Cameras and Ground Traffic Lights
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) improved the traffic environment in front of Jungmok Elementary School and installed a new crosswalk to enhance pedestrian safety for children and local residents.
Following a request from Jungmok Elementary School in March last year, the district established a plan to install a crosswalk and began demolition of the existing pedestrian overpass, which had decreased safety, starting in July last year. The installation of the crosswalk and related traffic facilities was completed, and construction finished in February.
Through this improvement project, two traffic signals, ground traffic lights, and two-way speed enforcement cameras were installed. In particular, a child protection zone was designated to prioritize pedestrian safety, with traffic signs maintained and time-based speed limits enforced (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at 30 km/h, 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM at 50 km/h) to strengthen traffic safety.
A completion briefing session related to the crosswalk installation project is scheduled for February 14. About 50 people, including Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, members of the National Assembly, school officials from Jungmok Elementary School, and the Myeonmok 2-dong Residents’ Autonomous Committee, are expected to attend.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “This traffic environment improvement secured not only a safe school route for children but also safe pedestrian rights for vulnerable groups such as the disabled and elderly.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to strengthen pedestrian safety on living roads, including child protection zones.”
The district has been continuously promoting road environment improvement projects for residents’ safety and convenience, completing lane expansion at Junghwa Station intersection in November last year and road expansion near Junghwa Elementary School on February 7.
