Choi Su-yeon: "Connecting Users, Creators, and Sellers with Naver AI" Yonhap News

Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver, stated, "The artificial intelligence (AI) that Naver is developing will become a tool that more delicately connects users, creators, and sellers."

On the 11th (local time), Choi attended the 'Future of Sustainable AI' session as a panelist at the 'AI Action Summit' held in Paris, France, saying, "Naver is transforming accumulated content?based on users' questions and answers about vast amounts of information and writings containing everyday wisdom?into 'AI,' a daily tool for people." The session featured keynote speeches starting with Ant?nio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, followed by Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister of Finland, Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, and then CEO Choi.

Choi explained, "Naver simultaneously possesses core AI source technologies and large-scale services used by tens of millions of people," adding, "We have secured the experience and know-how to create and develop a virtuous cycle structure that can bring greater opportunities to the digital ecosystem." She emphasized, "Based on this, we will strive to become a new option that strengthens the diversity of the AI ecosystem together with the global community."

CEO Choi also mentioned specific examples of AI technology utilization. She said, "On the online comic platform 'Naver Webtoon,' optimized for the digital environment in terms of content, composition, and production, an 'AI Curator' is active, recommending webtoons of various genres and stories to users, while providing creators with 'AI coloring tools' to help them focus on more delicate sketch work."

She continued, "AI applied to commerce will understand users' hidden search intentions and contexts to discover and recommend desired products and benefits ahead of time," raising expectations for the soon-to-be-launched AI-based shopping application 'Naver Plus Store.'

Meanwhile, the AI Action Summit is a global conference aimed at promoting a sustainable future and safe use of artificial intelligence technology. It marked its third year this year, following the 2023 London and last year's Seoul meetings. Naver has been invited to all three summits to date.
