The court did not accept the provisional injunction request filed by Dongduk Women's University to lift the occupation of the school main building.
According to the legal community on the 11th, the Civil Division 1 of the Seoul Northern District Court (Chief Judge Oh Gwon-cheol) recently dismissed the provisional injunction request filed by the president and dean of Dongduk Women's University against the university's student council, seeking eviction and prohibition of obstruction of business.
The court stated, "It is difficult to see that the student council has the right to seek a provisional injunction to lift the occupation of the building in December," and added, "Although they also seek to prohibit all acts that obstruct business, this is too broad to be accepted."
Earlier, in November of last year, the Dongduk Women's University student council occupied the school main building and held a sit-in protest demanding the suspension of discussions on coeducation. On November 28 of last year, when the occupation continued, the school filed for a provisional injunction, citing increasing damage within the campus.
