Shinhan Bank Launches 'SOL Group Account' Featuring Cha Eun-woo

On the 11th, Shinhan Bank announced the launch of the 'SOL Group Account Service' with the concept of a 'group account created to gather well.' This marks a re-challenge in group accounts three years after discontinuing the launch of 'Kim Chongmu,' the first dedicated group account app in the domestic banking sector.

The SOL Group Account is a dedicated group account that the group leader can create by opening a new account or converting an existing account to manage membership fees. The group leader can easily invite members via contacts, KakaoTalk, text messages, and more. Since it operates on a mobile web basis, groups can be formed and members invited without opening a Shinhan Bank account or installing an app. Group management features such as setting group rules, calendar management, group settlement, and photo registration can also be easily started.

Group members do not need to copy the account number and transfer fees manually. When the group leader sets up the transfer information and sends a notification message, members can click the transfer button in SOL Bank or KakaoPay to transfer the fees in one step. The inconvenience of members having to change automatic transfers due to account number changes when the group leader changes has also been eliminated. When a SOL Group Account is created, a dedicated group account number (virtual account) is generated separately, and when the group leader changes, the account number is linked to the new leader’s account for continued use.

Even non-leaders can withdraw up to 300,000 KRW, enhancing the convenience of account management.

Additionally, the service provides a feature to manage group memories by storing and sharing group-related information such as schedules, locations, and photos. The group calendar allows easy management of members’ birthdays and major event schedules at a glance. A transaction receipt attachment feature is also included so that members can check usage details.

Along with the launch of the group account, Shinhan Bank is introducing related products.

The SOL Group Installment Savings allows flexible monthly deposits of up to 1 million KRW for up to 12 months, with a basic interest rate of 2.6% per annum plus a preferential interest rate of 1.5 percentage points, applying a maximum interest rate of 4.1% per annum. The SOL Group Piggy Bank is a parking account that provides interest on unused surplus funds of the group. It allows free deposits and withdrawals within 3 million KRW per account, with an interest rate of up to 2% per annum.

Furthermore, in collaboration with Shinhan Card, the 'Point Plan' check card has been released with a group-specialized design called the 'Point Plan SOL Group Check Card.' It allows accumulation of up to 1% My Shinhan Points on each domestic and overseas payment, with additional accumulation limits provided in May and December, months with many group activities.

On the same day, Shinhan Bank unveiled a video advertisement for the 'SOL Group Account Service' featuring actor and singer Cha Eun-woo as the model. A Shinhan Bank official stated, "We hope customers can manage their funds easily and conveniently and share joyful group memories together," adding, "We will continue to create differentiated customer experiences unique to Shinhan."
