Yeosu City Completes Blueprint for ‘Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Basic Plan’

Foundation Laid for Incorporating Expert and Citizen Opinions

Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Kimyung) announced on the 11th that it held the final report meeting for the establishment of the "Basic Plan for Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth" at the public health center conference room on the 10th and completed the review of major tasks.


The report meeting was attended by about 40 people, including members of the Yeosu City 2050 Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee and related public officials, and was conducted in the order of a report by the consulting firm followed by a Q&A session.

The Basic Plan for Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth is a 10-year statutory plan established every five years in accordance with the "Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Coping with Climate Crisis," aiming for systematic management of greenhouse gases.


The city plans to establish the basic plan by reflecting the results of this consulting project and last month's public hearing, as well as through consultation with the Korea Environment Corporation and deliberation by the Yeosu City 2050 Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee.


A city official stated, "With the goal of hosting the 33rd United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP33), we will establish a robust basic plan and take the lead in achieving carbon neutrality by 2030."
