On the 11th, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, visited the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism headquarters to pay a courtesy call on Venerable Jinwoo, the Chief Executive Director. He expressed his condolences regarding the Jeju Air passenger plane accident and thanked the order for their support activities for the victims. He also expressed his agreement with the themes of 'communication' and 'Hwajaeng' (harmonious resolution), which were presented as key topics for this year.

Governor Kim said, "Right after the accident at the end of last year, you came in person to pay your respects and provided full support for the installation of the memorial altar and condolence payments, which was a great source of strength for the bereaved families. I will also do my best to support the enactment of a special law to uncover the truth behind the passenger plane accident and to support the victims. I ask for continued interest and support from the order as well."

Venerable Jinwoo, the Chief Executive Director, said, "It was truly heartbreaking that the accident occurred at a time when the political situation is unstable and the public is uneasy. Following the Sewol Ferry and Itaewon disasters, the entire nation is now suffering from trauma and high stress. Therefore, it is more important than ever to promote 'Seon meditation' to help heal the mental wounds of the people and restore psychological stability."

There was also an explanation about the construction of the International Meditation Center to be established in Damyang, Jeollanam-do.

Governor Kim said, "The construction of the International Meditation Center is proceeding without any setbacks. Construction will begin in May, and we expect that it will contribute to the popularization of 'Seon meditation' promoted by the Jogye Order and to the healing of the people's minds."

Venerable Jinwoo commented on the current situation in Korea, saying, "The country is more divided than ever, and the people are also divided. When everyone tries to take everything for themselves, they end up losing it all. It is important to secure even half. Especially, politicians need to think this way and seek compromise."
