Of these, 10 cases occurred within the province (4 in Gimje, 5 in Buan, and 1 in Gunsan).
Accordingly, the city plans to complete sample collection and detailed inspections by the 14th at four traditional market poultry vendors and related vehicles in the region to prevent further spread among native chickens.
Additionally, a "two-week intensive disinfection period" (February 3?16) will be implemented, focusing on layer and duck farms with high incidence rates, and the disinfection of farm entrances will be doubled compared to previous measures. Disinfection will also be expanded in rivers frequented by migratory birds and in high-risk areas with heavy livestock vehicle traffic.
Despite strengthened quarantine measures, farms or affiliated companies that fail to comply with administrative orders and notices will face administrative actions such as fines or reductions in compensation for culling.
A city official stated, "We must recognize the seriousness of the nationwide spread of highly pathogenic AI," and added, "If any suspicious symptoms are found in poultry, they must be reported immediately, and farms must strictly adhere to quarantine protocols."
The official further emphasized, "The city will mobilize all administrative resources and make every effort to completely block the occurrence of highly pathogenic AI."
