Gwangju City announced on the 11th that it is publicly recruiting private organizations and groups to carry out the 'Human Rights Organization Cooperation Project'.

This project, which has been ongoing since 2012, supports the activities of civil society organizations that promote human rights in vulnerable areas not reached by administrative efforts, based on public-private cooperation.

This year's support projects are divided into planning and general categories. The planning category includes: ▲ discovering and strengthening the capabilities of human rights activists ▲ developing human rights education programs, materials, and promotional content ▲ promoting human rights related to 'human rights city, civic space, poverty and inequality' ▲ and projects to foster human rights sensitivity. The general category includes: ▲ guaranteeing and promoting the rights of vulnerable groups ▲ establishing a human rights city and spreading the Gwangju Human Rights Charter ▲ and spreading a culture of respect for human rights.

This year, organizations selected for the Human Rights Organization Cooperation Project will conduct cross-evaluations of each other to seek development directions such as whether the project is proceeding according to its goals and objectives and the status of publicity. In addition, to achieve the '2045 Carbon Neutrality' goal, efforts will be made not to purchase or use disposable products at events and meetings related to the Human Rights Organization Cooperation Project, as part of the transition to an eco-friendly city.

Applications are open to non-profit corporations or non-profit private organizations based in Gwangju as of the announcement date, with at least one year of experience in human rights activities and the basic human and material resources necessary to carry out the project.

Applications will be accepted from the 19th to the 25th. After internal review and deliberation by the Local Subsidy Management Committee, the final selection will be made in March. For more details, refer to the 'Notices/Announcements' section on the Gwangju City website. For phone inquiries, contact the Gwangju City Human Rights and Peace Division.

Park Yongsoo, Director of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Peace, said, "We will promote citizens' human rights and foster a culture of human rights community through cooperation with private organizations," and added, "We hope for active participation from private organizations with expertise and passion for human rights promotion activities."
