Citizen Safety Takes Top Priority
with Joint Safety Inspections and Fire Prevention Measures
Pohang City announced that various Daeboreum events will be held throughout Pohang on the 12th in celebration of Jeongwol Daeboreum.
The event locations are as follows: in Buk-gu, ▲Wolpo Beach in Cheongha-myeon; in Nam-gu, ▲Hyeongsangang Sports Park in Haedo-dong ▲Hyeongsangang Riverside Parking Lot in Yeonil-eup ▲Dogu Beach in Donghae-myeon ▲Cheongnim Beach in Cheongnim-dong ▲near Yangpo Health Clinic at Yangpo Port in Janggi-myeon.
At Hyeongsangang Riverside in Haedo-dong, a large 10-meter Daljip burning event, a safety prayer ceremony wishing for citizens' well-being and a bountiful harvest, pungmul band performances, gogojanggu drumming, and wish paper writing will be held.
In Cheongha-myeon, invited singer performances, traditional folk game experiences, prayer ceremonies, and a community harmony festival will take place, with the highlight of the event?the Daljip burning?scheduled to coincide with sunset.
Additionally, Yeonil-eup, Donghae-myeon, Cheongnim-dong, and Janggi-myeon will also hold various seasonal customs events such as burning Daljip at moonrise and writing wish papers to pray for wish fulfillment.
As the events will be held simultaneously at six locations and are expected to attract large crowds, Pohang City is prioritizing citizen safety by establishing a preemptive safety management plan, conducting joint on-site inspections with related organizations, managing traffic control and parking, and focusing on fire prevention and other proactive safety measures.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “We will work closely with related organizations to ensure the Jeongwol Daeboreum events are conducted safely and to prevent any accidents. I hope that by burning the Daljip, all past misfortunes will be eradicated, and that the year 2025, the Year of Eulsa, will be filled with bright smiles on everyone's faces like the full, round moon.”
