Special Fire Prevention Measures at Venues Using Fire

The Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 10th that they will implement special emergency duty from the 11th to the 13th to establish a rapid on-site response system ahead of Jeongwol Daeboreum (February 12).

Jeongwol Daeboreum is a traditional holiday where people wish for a bountiful harvest and well-being by viewing the first full moon of the year. As various fire-related outdoor events such as Daljip Burning, Jwibulnori, and flying sky lanterns are scheduled to take place, it is a critical period requiring fire prevention and swift response.

According to the special emergency duty plan, the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters will mobilize 2,887 personnel, including firefighters and volunteer fire brigade members, along with 274 pieces of equipment, to maintain a 24-hour seamless dispatch readiness.

They will strengthen preventive patrols in fire-prone areas, guide autonomous safety management for managers of multi-use facilities, keep all staff on emergency alert, and operate firefighting equipment at full capacity. In particular, fire trucks will be stationed near Jeongwol Daeboreum event venues, such as the Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Festival at Ssangam Park in Gwangsan-gu, to ensure rapid response to fire use and provide first aid in case of emergencies.

Choi Jeongsik, head of the 119 Response Division at the Gwangju Fire Headquarters, said, "Since a small spark can lead to a large fire, special caution is needed when using fire," adding, "We will do our best through this special emergency duty to ensure a safe Jeongwol Daeboreum without any fires."
