Support for Medical Expenses of Low-Income Patients
Donations from Corporations and Related Organizations Continue
The Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center announced on the 10th that the total amount of donations collected through the warm hearts of its employees recently exceeded 300 million KRW.
Employees of the Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center have voluntarily donated small amounts or made occasional large donations for over 10 years, resulting in a cumulative amount of approximately 300 million KRW. So far, 130 million KRW has been provided to 149 low-income cancer patients. Donors include medical staff, administrative personnel, researchers, the Shinwoo Association, patients, and patient guardians.
Additionally, local related organizations, companies, and groups separately donate to the medical center through the Korea Atomic Energy Cooperation Foundation’s social contribution program called the ‘Wings of Hope’ project. Reflecting the purpose of the donations, these funds are used not only for direct and indirect support to patients but also for various consolation performances and the expansion of infrastructure to improve patient convenience. A detailed list of donors is recorded with gratitude on the donation wall inside the center.
Lee Chang-hoon, the director of the medical center, said, “The donations that started from our employees have gradually spread to local companies and organizations, gathering warm hearts from various places. We actively seek out blind spots in support to ensure that medically vulnerable patients in the region do not give up treatment due to financial difficulties. Moreover, precious donations are also used for projects selected through internal contests to contribute to the advancement of public healthcare.”
Lee Chang-hoon, the director of the medical institute, is presenting a plaque of appreciation to Kim Jung-soo, the head of the medical department, who represents the employees who donated.
