Gwangju Education Civic Cooperation Promotion Agency announced on the 10th that it will strengthen environmental education to respond to the climate crisis and build a sustainable society.
The Promotion Agency will recruit 20 schools starting in March to implement the "Green Life Practice Activation" project.
This project, which began in 2011, aims to create a foundation for local students to practice green living at school and supports programs in collaboration with local environmental organizations.
Last year, students at Gwangju Dong Elementary School, a school participating in the Green Living Practice Activation Project, engaged in activities on the Earth Temperature Notification bulletin board. Provided by Gwangju Office of Education
In addition, to help students participate in green practices and understand ecological values through real-life environmental protection cases, the agency will revise and supplement its environmental education materials and distribute them to elementary, middle, and high schools in November.
The materials will be expanded and supplemented to include environmental protection cases from Gwangju, such as the energy transition village "Sinhyocheon Village" and the urban community "Hansaebong Dure Village."
Furthermore, to discover and spread outstanding cases of environmental education, awards and prizes will be given at the end of the year to schools, teachers, and students who have implemented ecological transition education.
