Benepia Welfare Point Payments, Continuous Expansion Online and Offline

SK M&S, a company specializing in corporate welfare (CEO Kim Sung-jun), announced that it is expanding its partnerships across the board to enable payments with welfare points from its selective welfare platform ‘Benefia’ both online and offline.

Recently, corporate welfare services have been gaining attention in the form of so-called 'hybrid welfare,' which breaks down the boundaries between online and offline, combining various welfare services so that employees can conveniently enjoy benefits anytime and anywhere.

Accordingly, SK M&S has been providing a service since 2020 that allows online welfare points to be used at offline stores, responding to the increasing demand for simple payment methods using digital technology, especially among younger generations.

Customers of the selective welfare platform ‘Benefia’ can easily pay welfare points at offline stores through the ‘Store Payment’ service. Available stores include about 250 brands such as large marts/convenience stores, department stores/outlets, cafes/bakeries, movie theaters, restaurants, and bookstores, including E-Mart, Homeplus, Lotte Department Store, CU, GS25, Twosome Place, Paris Baguette, Megabox, and Kyobo Bookstore.

The usage is simple. Users just select ‘Store Payment’ on the Benefia app and show the barcode for each brand. Once the payment is completed, welfare points are deducted in real time. By registering frequently used brands as widgets and using biometric authentication, it can be used much faster and more conveniently than taking a card out of a wallet.

Discount benefits of up to 7% are also provided by industry and brand. Unlike credit cards that require certain conditions such as annual fees or previous month’s spending to receive discounts, Benefia offers unconditional discounts.

Following last year, Benefia partnered with E-Mart again to prepare a special event. It combined a 5,000 KRW coupon for E-Mart, a 5,000 KRW coupon for first-time Benefia store payment customers, and a 1% ongoing discount on E-Mart store payments. Customers using the store payment service for the first time can enjoy a discount benefit of 10,600 KRW, equivalent to 17%, when purchasing 70,000 KRW.

Additionally, Benefia has enhanced service convenience by allowing e-coupons, which were previously only available on the mobile app, to be purchased on PC as well.

Brand products composed of more than 300 diverse industries and services such as beverages, convenience stores, delivery services, OTT, beauty/lifestyle products, and gift certificates can be purchased on PC and used freely without restrictions between online and offline.

To commemorate the opening of the e-coupon PC service, Benefia is running an event offering 100% winning coupons to all customers and additional prize draws for PC purchasers.

SK M&S stated, “Store payment and e-coupons are services with steadily increasing users and continuously growing transaction volumes every year,” adding, “We plan to continuously expand the usage locations by newly securing partner brands so that customers can conveniently use welfare points anywhere.”
