Amid ongoing positive signals of cultural exchange between Korea and China, Cube Entertainment, the agency of the girl group (G)I-DLE, which boasts the highest popularity in China, is reportedly accelerating its business in China.
A Cube Entertainment representative stated, “(G)I-DLE’s Chinese member ‘Yuqi,’ who recently surpassed 10 million followers on Weibo, has already been appointed as the China ambassador for the global brand Adidas and continues to collaborate with leading global companies. Additionally, since the announcement of (G)I-DLE’s contract renewal last year, proposals from local Chinese companies related to entertainment businesses such as advertising, performances, and merchandise have significantly increased, and we are positively reviewing these offers. We expect that if cultural exchange between Korea and China becomes more active, activities in China by (G)I-DLE and other affiliated artists will also become more advantageous.”
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE, who completed their contract renewal with Cube Entertainment at the end of last year, won two awards on the 2024 annual chart released by Tencent Music China. Furthermore, (G)I-DLE’s ‘Minnie,’ who released a solo album in January, also proved her popularity in China by ranking first on QQ Music’s daily and weekly digital bestseller charts.
