Hwang: "Yoon conducted excessive investigations for his presidential project"
"Kim Ki-hyun, the biggest beneficiary, is pretending to be a victim"
Hwang Unha, floor leader of the Joguk Innovation Party, announced on the 10th that he would file a complaint against President Yoon Seok-yeol with the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit, accusing him of abusing his authority to forcibly prosecute and investigate the 'Ulsan Mayor Election Interference Suspicion' case when he was the Prosecutor General.
In the appeal trial of the 'Ulsan mayoral election interference suspicion' case, Hwang Unha, floor leader of the Joguk Innovation Party, who was acquitted, demanded an explanation from Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, regarding the '3 billion won promissory note' corruption suspicion at the National Assembly Communication Office in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 10th. On the same day, Hwang held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and said, "Yoon Seok-yeol planned the Ulsan case for his presidential project and sacrificed innocent citizens."
Regarding the 'Ulsan Mayor Election Interference Suspicion,' he claimed, "Lee Seong-yoon, the chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office who was responsible for the case at the time, opposed the prosecution, but Prosecutor General Yoon prosecuted the case without Lee's approval."
He continued, "He obstructed the exercise of authority by Lee, who had the approval rights, and forced the prosecutors in charge to carry out unnecessary duties such as prosecuting and maintaining the indictment despite procedural defects," adding, "Now it is time to hold Yoon Seok-yeol accountable, who said he would take responsibility."
He also demanded an explanation from Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, regarding the '3 billion won memorandum' corruption suspicion.
He explained, "In 2018, the Liberty Korea Party, trying to recover from an unfavorable situation in the upcoming local elections, picked a fight over the local corruption investigation against Kim Ki-hyun's close associates by the Ulsan police and reported me," adding, "but when no significant charges were found, the prosecution eventually arrested a Ulsan-based construction businessman who accused Kim Ki-hyun's younger brother of the 3 billion won memorandum corruption as a separate case."
He added, "During the five months, they summoned me over 80 times for investigation, using inducements and threats, saying 'If you testify to Hwang Unha's corruption, you will be released,'" and "in this process, the late Lee Hyung-gon, a subcontractor worker from a Ulsan local company, could not withstand the prosecution's pressure and took his own life."
He further stated, "Without finding any specific wrongdoing by Floor Leader Hwang, the prosecution transferred the case to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on November 26, 2019, and later suddenly attempted a forced investigation by framing it as a 'Blue House-directed investigation,'” adding, “Around December 2019, a former prosecution investigator who was a Blue House administrative officer ended his life by extreme choice."
He emphasized, "Five years after the prosecution, the Ulsan case was revealed to have no substance and was merely a fabrication by the prosecution, but during the process, two innocent citizens lost their lives," and said, "If the national institution, the prosecution, pushes innocent citizens to death without taking any responsibility, it no longer has a reason to exist."
He also directly stated, "All prosecutors and investigators who conducted illegal investigations equivalent to judicial murder must be criminally punished," and "They must bear corresponding civil and criminal responsibilities."
Floor Leader Hwang was acquitted by the second trial court on the 4th regarding the 'Ulsan Mayor Election Interference Suspicion' case.
