Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed that he felt "heartbroken" over former President Moon Jae-in's remark that he "regrets deeply" appointing Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and the birth of the current administration, and suggested that it is time to stop the fruitless disputes.
On the 10th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, saying, "I was heartbroken by the confession of President Moon Jae-in, who took the greatest responsibility, as the first Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Moon administration," and added, "The president's urgent emphasis on inclusion and expansion is conveyed."
He continued, "It is precisely the Democratic Party's inclusion and expansion that will serve as the foundation for opening a new era beyond regime change," and stressed, "Now, let's stop the fruitless blame game of 'your fault, my fault.' Let's embrace various colors and voices like cheering sticks."
Earlier, former President Moon said in an interview with Hankyoreh on the 7th, "People from the Moon administration are not free from responsibility for the birth of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, and of course, I bear the greatest responsibility among them."
He added, "I felt a great sense of self-reproach for handing over power to such a person. Moreover, with the recent martial law and impeachment incidents, I felt so apologetic to the people that I could not sleep at night."
Although several people mentioned the process of appointing Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, this is the first time that former President Moon, the final appointing authority, has openly shared his detailed thoughts on the matter.
