Oh Se-hoon: "Lee Jae-myung Must Join Constitutional Amendment Discussions"

"Lee Also Advocated Constitutional Amendment Two and a Half Years Ago"
Debate with the Opposition over Severe Trauma Training Center Budget

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon proposed to Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, to "join in a sincere discussion on constitutional amendment."

On the 10th, Mayor Oh wrote on Facebook, "Leader Lee Jae-myung is blocking his ears to the constitutional amendment discussion alone."

Previously, Mayor Oh has advocated the need for a decentralized constitutional amendment since the emergency martial law incident. On this day as well, he emphasized, "To overcome the crisis in the Republic of Korea, constitutional amendment discussions are igniting regardless of party lines," adding, "Because preventing the extreme concentration of power that has continued since the 1987 system is necessary for national unity to begin."

Mayor Oh asked Leader Lee, "Where did the person who proposed the establishment of the National Assembly's 'Constitutional Amendment Special Committee' two and a half years ago to change the 1987 system go?" He then criticized, "Now that the presidential race is in sight, is it okay to just get in a broken car as long as I ride it first?"

He continued, "Today, (Leader Lee) brought up the 'recall system' in his National Assembly speech," and pointed out, "Is ignoring the constitutional amendment discussion to resolve national confusion and mobilizing fervent supporters to eliminate political opponents a responsible solution?"

Meanwhile, Mayor Oh engaged in a dispute with the Democratic Party over the budget for the Severe Trauma Center. Seoul City decided to allocate 500 million won from the Disaster Management Fund after the entire budget for the Severe Trauma Training Center was cut during the National Assembly review process on the 6th. In response, the Democratic Party argued that the related budget was entirely cut from the government proposal but was increased by opposition members of the Welfare Committee, blaming the current government.

On this day, Mayor Oh criticized on Facebook, "The Democratic Party committed the worst budget rampage by processing a reduced budget bill without bipartisan agreement in the Budget Committee and plenary session, resulting in the final cancellation of the 900 million won support budget for the training center," adding, "When Seoul City urgently stepped in to support, the Democratic Party seized on the word 'cut' and launched an offensive, calling it fake news."
