The police have cleared Democratic Party lawmaker Min Hyungbae of allegations that he played golf with executives from Gwangju-based companies and acquaintances during the National Assembly audit period as a form of entertainment.
On the 10th, the Gwangju Seobu Police Station announced a decision not to refer the case against Min, who had been accused of violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
The police determined that the two golf rounds and one dinner gathering with acquaintances, including business officials, were not related to Min's official duties or work.
Regarding the suspicion that Min received hospitality such as golf course fees and meal expenses, the police found that he paid 100,000 won each on two occasions, concluding that it was unrelated to bribery.
Previously, Min was reported to the police on charges of being entertained at golf gatherings with acquaintances on October 6 and 13 last year, which coincided with the National Assembly audit period and the campaign period for the October 16 by-elections, allegedly having related expenses covered.
