Visit Frequency Increased at 90 Out of 154 Centers
Desire for Items That Help Prevent Dementia
The Senior Play Equipment Sharing Center in Nam-gu, Gwangju (headed by District Mayor Kim Byungnae) has received a highly positive response from local seniors.
According to Nam-gu on the 10th, a satisfaction survey was conducted among 154 senior centers in the region that had records of borrowing various play equipment from the Senior Play Equipment Sharing Center last year. As a result, 90 centers reported an increase in the frequency of senior visits.
Seniors at 68 centers responded that while enjoying games with other members, they also experienced more physical activity and the joy of exercise. This shows that the Senior Play Equipment Sharing Center has brought significant changes in revitalizing the use of senior centers.
Regarding the number of times the Senior Play Equipment Sharing Center was used, 150 out of 154 centers used the service more than twice, and 41 centers used it more than five times. In addition, 128 centers expressed satisfaction with the items provided by the Senior Play Equipment Sharing Center. In particular, the delivery and collection service for play equipment received the highest satisfaction, and the variety of items available for rental was also highly appreciated.
On the other hand, five centers responded that they were not satisfied. This was mainly due to the karaoke machine not being available for long-term rental and the presence of play equipment that required complex thinking.
Among the play equipment held by the sharing center, the most popular items were bead puzzles, Chilgyonori, and fishing games.
Items that seniors wished to have included puzzle games helpful for dementia prevention, equipment for hand exercises, mini golf, basketball, and badminton.
