1,604 Passenger Cars, 250 Trucks, 1 Medium Van, and 2 Vans for Children's School Transportation
Daejeon City announced that it will promote the supply of 1,857 electric vehicles this year to create a pleasant air environment.
The vehicles to be supplied include 1,604 passenger cars, 250 trucks, 1 medium-sized van, and 2 vans for children's school transportation.
When purchasing a vehicle, the basic subsidy varies by vehicle type: up to 8.3 million KRW for electric passenger cars, up to 14.2 million KRW for electric trucks, and up to 145 million KRW for electric vans for children's school transportation.
In particular, for young adults purchasing their first car, previously, additional national funding was provided only if the applicant (aged 19 to 34) belonged to the lower-income class. However, from this year, an additional 20% national subsidy will be provided regardless of income class.
Additionally, families with two children will receive an extra 1 million KRW, those with three children 2 million KRW, and those with four or more children 3 million KRW.
Farmers will also receive an additional 10% national subsidy when purchasing an electric truck.
If an old electric vehicle (limited to vehicles that cannot have their BMS safety function updated) is scrapped and replaced with a new electric passenger car, an additional 200,000 KRW national subsidy will be provided.
The residency requirement for eligibility has been eased from 90 days to 30 days, so any individual or corporation who has resided in Daejeon for at least 30 consecutive days as of the application date is eligible for support.
To apply for the subsidy, simply sign a purchase contract for the electric vehicle and apply through the dealership; recipients will be selected in the order of vehicle delivery and registration.
If you have already received an electric vehicle subsidy, you are restricted from receiving it again for two years. However, small and medium-sized enterprise corporate taxis (passenger), ultra-compact passenger and cargo vehicles are not subject to this restriction. Also, if you scrap an old diesel vehicle and purchase an electric truck, the restriction period does not apply for one time.
Moon Changyong, Director of Environment at Daejeon City, said, "We hope for the interest and participation of many citizens in this project, which will create a clear and blue future for Daejeon by reducing air pollutants."
