"Will Meet Saudi and Egypt... Looking Forward to Meeting Putin"
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 9th (local time) that he views the Gaza Strip as a "huge real estate property" and said he might give some land to other Middle Eastern countries to help with the reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
According to foreign media including Reuters and CNN, President Trump made these remarks aboard Air Force One while heading to New Orleans, Louisiana, to watch the Super Bowl, the NFL championship game. He said, "We are committed to buying the Gaza Strip and owning it."
President Trump said, "I think allowing Palestinians or Gaza residents to return once again is a big mistake," adding, "We do not want Hamas to return." The former real estate businessman said, "I see the Gaza Strip as a huge real estate property," and added, "The United States will own it, and we will develop it slowly and without rushing."
President Trump said he plans to meet soon with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, expressing hope that after talks with him, these two countries will agree to accept Palestinian residents. He suggested that other Middle Eastern countries should accept Palestinians in beautiful places.
Meanwhile, regarding the interview published that day by the New York Post in which President Trump revealed he had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump did not disclose the content or timing of the call. However, expressing a desire for an end to the Ukraine war, he said, "We are making progress with (President Putin), and I look forward to meeting with Putin at the appropriate time to have more discussions."
