Lee Junseok Calls for "Returning to the Original Intentions"... Heo Eunah Responds, "Start with True Repentance"

Heo Eunah Stresses
"Politics Is About Working Together"

Lee Junseok, a member of the Reform New Party, addressed the recent turmoil within the party on February 9, emphasizing, "Let us all return to the original intentions we had when founding the Reform New Party and move forward together." His remarks came in response to a court decision to dismiss the injunction filed by former leader Eunah Heo, who had sought to suspend the validity of the party member recall vote that led to her resignation.

On this day, Lee stated on Facebook, "The court recently dismissed the injunction to suspend the effect of the party member recall vote. It is regrettable for any political party when its elected leadership cannot complete its term," expressing his thoughts on the matter.

He continued, "The court's ruling this time was concrete and clear," and argued, "The authority delegated to the party leadership comes from the members, and in exercising this authority, democratic procedures must be observed. Above all, it was a clear reminder that we must never forget the fact that party members are always watching."

Lee also conveyed, "I have shared my opinion with acting leader Chun Haram, expressing my hope that he will demonstrate leadership based on inclusiveness and patience as he reorganizes the party in preparation for the upcoming early presidential election."

He added, "With the attitude of 'Jogogakha' (照顧脚下, meaning 'look carefully at your own feet'), I will reflect on my current position, listen to voices of criticism, and use this as an opportunity to strive even harder." He also referenced the story of Julius Caesar in ancient Rome, who showed tolerance even to those who had been his adversaries when he became victorious.

Lee stated, "If he had used revenge as a means, the later glory of Rome would not have existed," and suggested, "I ask all party members and supporters to also reflect on this incident and extend patience and tolerance to everyone who pledges to work for the party once again."

In response, former leader Heo directly addressed Lee on social media, saying, "To move forward, one must humbly reflect on what has been left behind," and pointedly added, "What Lee needs is not Jogogakha, but true repentance and reform."

Former leader Heo further remarked, "Politics is not something done alone, but together with others," and criticized, "Lee has practiced a style of politics where he uses people and discards them when they are no longer needed. There are more than a few who have become adversaries due to his divisive politics."
