Kim Dong-yeon dismisses Oh Se-hoon's claim that "Yoon's diplomacy was right" as "supporting insurrection forces" remarks

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon directly criticized Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon's claim that President Yoon Suk-yeol's diplomacy was correct, saying, "If you really don't know, it is ignorance, and if you ignore it knowing the truth, it is deceiving the people."

On the 9th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "Saying Yoon Suk-yeol's diplomacy was right is a gross distortion."

He continued, "The Yoon Suk-yeol administration has focused solely on 'subtractive diplomacy' throughout its term, voluntarily isolating itself on the international stage," and added, "Moreover, the very person responsible for setting South Korean diplomacy back 30 years due to internal strife is Yoon Suk-yeol."

He argued, "Our diplomatic assets are the K brand and soft power," and countered, "How can anyone defend the internal strife forces that have caused the K brand, national prestige, and international credibility, built up while overcoming the COVID-19 crisis, to plummet overnight?"

Furthermore, he lamented, "The second Trump era has begun, yet we are in a crisis where we cannot even step onto the diplomatic stage," adding, "If you don't know this, it is ignorance, and if you ignore it knowing the truth, it is deceiving the people."

He especially criticized, "There is a high possibility that Acting Minister Choi Sang-mok will not attend this month's G20 Finance Ministers' Meeting," noting, "This is the first time in 17 years. Amid pressing global economic issues, our position is narrowing. Saying that Yoon Suk-yeol's diplomacy, which has driven economic diplomacy to the brink, is right can only be explained as an attempt to defend the internal strife martial law forces."

He also advised, "At times like this, we must face reality squarely," and warned, "Do not use diplomacy for domestic politics."

Earlier, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon posted on his Facebook on the same day a post titled "The diplomacy among Korea, the U.S., and Japan was correct under the Yoon Suk-yeol government," stating, "President Yoon took political risks to restore Korea-Japan relations and perfectly restored the Korea-U.S. relationship that former President Moon Jae-in damaged."

He added, "In the Yoon administration's governance, responsibilities must be taken, but achievements to be developed should be refined more precisely," emphasizing, "A representative policy to refine is strong Korea-U.S.-Japan diplomacy and security cooperation."
