Two male athletes and all three female athletes from South Korea who participated in the short track 1000m at the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games advanced to the finals.
On the 9th (local time), at the multipurpose hall of the Heilongjiang Ice Training Center in Harbin, China, in the women's 1000m short track event at the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games, Shim Seok-hee, Choi Min-jung, and Kim Gil-li all advanced to the finals. In the men's division, Park Ji-won and Jang Sung-woo reached the finals, while only Kim Geon-woo was eliminated.
Choi Min-jung and Shim Seok-hee were in Heat 1 competing against China's Yang Jinglu. Choi Min-jung took the lead from the start and smoothly crossed the finish line first. Shim Seok-hee waited for an opportunity from behind and moved up to third place as Yang Jinglu and Kazakhstan's Malika Yermek collided, crossing the finish line in third. Shim Seok-hee advanced to the finals in second place after Yang Jinglu was disqualified.
Kim Gil-li competed against China's Zhang Chutong and Gong Li. Gong Li fell early in the race, and Kim Gil-li overtook Zhang Chutong in the final lap, crossing the finish line first.
In the men's division, Park Ji-won competed in Heat 1 against China's Lin Xiaojun and Sun Long. Park Ji-won was positioned in the lower ranks but moved inside with one lap remaining, overtaking two competitors simultaneously to finish second and advance to the finals. Lin Xiaojun was disqualified and failed to advance.
Jang Sung-woo and Kim Geon-woo competed in Heat 2. Jang Sung-woo took the lead from the start and led the race for a long time but was overtaken by China's Liu Shaoang in the final lap, finishing second and advancing to the finals. Kim Geon-woo finished in fifth place.
