On the 6th, Pohang City held a residents' briefing session at the Cheongnim-dong Administrative Welfare Center for residents, including the Cheongnim-dong Development Advisory Committee, regarding the construction of the Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center.

The briefing session, held to share the plans and progress of the 'Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center' with local residents and to listen to their opinions, featured detailed presentations on the purpose and necessity of establishing the center, as well as the anticipated social and cultural effects.


Additionally, discussions were held on the various benefits and development directions that local residents can expect from the construction of the culture center, followed by a Q&A session to address residents' questions.


On this day, local residents expressed their expectations that the Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center will serve as a cultural hub, reemphasizing the importance of the region's history and culture and revitalizing the local economy.


A resident who attended the briefing said, “I expect the Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center to promote the historical value of the region and contribute to local development,” adding, “I hope that continuous communication with residents will help the construction of the culture center progress in a positive direction.”


Kang Hyun-joo, Director of the Welfare Policy Division, stated, “The construction of the Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center will play a significant role in preserving and developing our region’s history and culture,” and added, “We will continue to actively gather residents’ opinions to ensure the successful promotion of the culture center’s construction.”


The Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center is planned to be built in the Ilwol-dong area of Nam-gu with a total project cost of 18.1 billion KRW, including national funding, and the architectural design competition is currently underway.


The Hwandonghae Patriotic History and Culture Center is expected to serve as a future-oriented complex cultural space differentiated from existing memorial facilities by creating a multiplex patriotic exhibition hall, Hwandonghae Peace Gallery, and other patriotic and veterans’ facilities, featuring spaces for history education, intergenerational communication, community activities for citizens, and tourism and experiential venues.
