The number of users of DeepSeek, an artificial intelligence (AI) application in China, has sharply declined. This is attributed to the spread of warnings against DeepSeek among government and public institutions as well as companies.
According to IGAWorks Mobile Index on the 9th, the daily number of DeepSeek app users was only 74,688 as of the 4th. This is about one-third of the peak user count of 191,556 on the 28th of last month.
This trend is even more pronounced in new app installations. DeepSeek's new installations peaked at 171,257 on the 28th of last month but dropped to 20,452, about one-eighth, as of the 4th.
On the other hand, OpenAI's ChatGPT daily user count continues to rise. ChatGPT users numbered 605,574 on the 28th of last month and steadily increased to 739,957 on the 4th.
Regarding new installations, DeepSeek (171,257) outnumbered ChatGPT (30,971) on the 28th of last month, but by the 4th, ChatGPT (26,985) had surpassed DeepSeek (20,452) again.
