"WalkOn" is a mobile walking app open to all citizens, with approximately 12,500 members currently registered. It operates a variety of programs, including monthly and mileage challenges, making it the largest in the province. Last year, a total of 41,037 people participated in the program.
The small business-linked challenge aims not only to improve citizens' health but also to revitalize the local economy. During the challenge period, 1,500 citizens who achieve their goals will receive a coupon worth 10,000 won that can be used at local small businesses.
This initiative is expected to meet the diverse needs of citizens while also having a positive impact on the local commercial district.
The recruitment period is from the 10th to the 28th, and eligible businesses include snack bars, cafes, traditional tea houses, bakeries, and Chinese restaurants. To encourage broader participation, businesses that took part in the previous challenge will generally be excluded, but may be considered if there are not enough applicants. In total, 15 businesses will be selected.
Businesses wishing to participate can download the application form from the city hall website and submit it via email or in person.
An official from the city public health center stated, "We will continue to take the lead in creating a healthy atmosphere where citizens can practice walking in their daily lives through the 'WalkOn' app challenge."
