Expansion to 50 Schools This Year by Ulsan Office of Education
Expectations for Improved Student Fitness and Prevention of School Violence
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) will expand the ‘Morning Tteumtteum Jjamjjam Exercise’ project to 50 schools this year.
‘Morning Tteumtteum Jjamjjam Exercise’ is a physical activity that allows students to easily participate anytime and anywhere during their free moments, creating a lively school atmosphere and promoting healthy physical development. It is a Ulsan-style morning exercise participation challenge.
The Ulsan Office of Education supports schools to operate various programs such as walking, gymnastics, stretching, and team sports, as morning exercise has positive effects including improved concentration, enhanced physical fitness, and prevention of school violence.
Schools run morning exercises for all grades or by class and club units using programs such as ‘School Sports Club,’ ‘Health and Fitness Class,’ and ‘365+ Physical Activity.’
Last year, the Ulsan Office of Education focused support on 20 schools (6 elementary, 8 middle, and 6 high schools), and this year plans to expand support to 50 schools to enable more students to participate in morning exercise.
Applications for this year’s participating schools will be accepted until March 12, and a budget of 4 million KRW per school will be provided.
Superintendent Cheon Chang-su said, “Morning exercise helps improve students’ brain health, physical fitness, relieve stress, and soothe emotions. We will continue to provide various support so that students can start their day energetically.”
