Additional Resident Recruitment from the 10th... 'Flexible Selection' Until the End of This Month

Amid an extremely low application rate for resident recruitment in the first half of this year, each training hospital will begin additional recruitment starting from the 10th.

Additional Resident Recruitment from the 10th... 'Flexible Selection' Until the End of This Month

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the medical community on the 7th, 221 training hospitals nationwide will start additional resident recruitment from the 10th and operate the procedures according to their own schedules until the end of this month. Resident applications will begin on the 10th, and intern applications will start on the 12th, with each hospital setting its own deadline.

Accordingly, this additional recruitment will be conducted flexibly by each hospital in terms of application periods and the number of rounds until training begins in March. Originally, the additional recruitment had fixed application periods and announcement dates for successful candidates, but as each hospital operates the recruitment process independently, successful candidates can now be announced at any time. Training hospitals do not need to notify the Welfare Ministry’s Training Evaluation Committee of the number of applicants such as residents or interns but must report the expected successful candidates as they are selected by the 28th.

Previously, in the resident recruitment held from the 15th to the 19th of last month, 199 people applied, resulting in a low application rate of 2.2%. At that time, approximately 9,000 people who did not return are subject to this additional recruitment. It is also known that intern applications were minimal.

Military service exceptions such as postponement of enlistment will not apply in this additional recruitment due to military scheduling. The Ministry of National Defense will classify medical officer candidates who suspended training into categories such as military doctors and public health doctors in February and notify those subject to enlistment this year of the classification results.
