Driving Local Economic Vitality
by Promoting Community-Based Projects
On the 7th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2025 First Half Rapid Execution Promotion Meeting' in the city administration conference room, chaired by First Vice Mayor Jang Geum-yong.
At the meeting, heads of departments and offices shared plans and directions for rapid execution, and had in-depth discussions on budget execution plans and ways to improve execution rates for major projects.
The city set its own target of 65%, higher than the Gyeongsangnam-do local government rapid execution target rate of 55% for the first half of the year, and plans to execute more than 992.3 billion KRW by the end of June.
Vice Mayor Jang emphasized, “As the difficulties in the local economy increase, the role of public sector fiscal execution becomes more important,” adding, “We ask all departments to make active efforts to swiftly promote projects closely related to citizens’ daily lives, such as community-based projects, to enhance citizen satisfaction and contribute to revitalizing the local economy through rapid budget execution.”
The city proactively established its own rapid execution plan in early January and has been responding faster than in previous years by visiting all departments undertaking investment projects over 500 million KRW to provide consulting.
Through more focused and rapid fiscal execution in the first half of the year, the city will do its best to drive economic stimulus and inject vitality into the local economy and people’s livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Changwon City was selected as an outstanding local government in Gyeongnam for the first half of 2024 rapid execution results, receiving a special adjustment grant incentive of 200 million KRW, and ranked first in the province in the active execution category in the second half of the year.
