Chuncheon-si to Provide Subsidies for 1,092 Electric and Hydrogen Vehicles This Year

Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Yuk Dong-han) announced on the 7th that it will supply 1,092 eco-friendly vehicles this year with a project budget of approximately 17 billion KRW.

The supply of eco-friendly vehicles is being promoted to create a pleasant air environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector, and encourage carbon-neutral green living practices.

There are 1,013 electric vehicles and 79 hydrogen electric vehicles. The application period is from February 10 to December 12, but it may close early if the budget is exhausted.

Individuals (including sole proprietors) who have continuously resided in Chuncheon City for 90 days prior to the application date, or corporations, companies, organizations, and public institutions with their location in Chuncheon City, can apply.

Applications can be submitted online through the integrated zero-emission vehicle website by the manufacturer or importer after the purchaser signs a purchase contract with the electric vehicle or hydrogen electric vehicle manufacturer or importer and completes the application documents.

The subsidy amounts by vehicle type can be confirmed through the electric vehicle and hydrogen electric vehicle supply project announcements. Buyers of eco-friendly vehicles who receive subsidies must comply with the mandatory operation period (8 years for electric vehicles, 5 years for hydrogen vehicles), or they must return the subsidy according to the subsidy recovery rate.

In particular, purchasing an eco-friendly vehicle provides tax reduction benefits in addition to the subsidy.

The tax reductions include an individual consumption tax of up to 3 million KRW for electric vehicles and up to 4 million KRW for hydrogen electric vehicles. Acquisition tax reductions are up to 1.4 million KRW.
