Na Kyung-won "Democrats call Hani for audit but why silent on Oyoyanna?"

Thorough Investigation and Prevention of Recurrence Needed

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized, "The Democratic Party of Korea summoned NewJeans' Hani to the National Assembly audit but remains silent on the late Oh Yo-anna's workplace harassment allegations."

On the 7th, Na stated on Facebook, "The Democratic Party's selective human rights activism has struck again." She added, "The Democratic Party reportedly refused to hold a hearing on MBC weathercaster Oh Yo-anna's workplace harassment allegations, saying 'this is not a matter for a hearing.'"

NewJeans' Hani appeared as a witness at the National Assembly audit held on October 15 last year regarding issues of idol bullying and workplace harassment. Referring to this, Na said, "The Democratic Party's Environment and Labor Committee chairman summoned NewJeans' Hani during the last audit," adding, "This was to emphasize the need for social attention to harassment issues faced by entertainers, special employment workers, freelancers, and non-regular workers." She continued, "Yet the Democratic Party is uniquely silent on this recent case," questioning, "Why was it right then but wrong now? Is the Democratic Party practicing double standards even on human rights issues?"

Na criticized, "The Democratic Party's selective human rights activism is not a one-time occurrence." She raised her voice, saying, "The North Korean Human Rights Foundation has not even been launched for nine years due to delayed board member appointments caused by 'cautiousness toward North Korea,'" and "They also turned a blind eye to the killing of public officials in the West Sea, which violated citizens' human rights." She also claimed that while advocating for 'women's rights,' the party committed secondary harm by referring to the sexual violence victim of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon as a 'complainant.' She emphasized, "Human rights are universal values and principles, not subjects for selective compromise and tolerance based on political interests."

She further argued that the Oh Yo-anna case should be thoroughly investigated through hearings and other means to prevent recurrence. Na urged, "The Democratic Party must actively cooperate," stressing, "That would be the responsible stance of the Democratic Party of Korea, which usually proclaims itself as a human rights party, and Lee Jae-myung, who claims to be a human rights lawyer."
