Min Hyungbae: "Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Provide Additional Support for Gwangju and Jeonnam Tourism Industry"

4 Billion Won in Liability Insurance Premiums for 287 Travel Agencies
One-Year Deferment of Tourism Promotion and Development Fund Also Implemented

Min Hyungbae: "Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Provide Additional Support for Gwangju and Jeonnam Tourism Industry" Min Hyungbae, Member of the National Assembly.

Additional support measures, including liability insurance, will be implemented for the travel industry in Gwangju and Jeonnam that suffered damages from the Jeju Air incident.


According to Democratic Party lawmaker Min Hyungbae (Gwangju Gwangsan-eul) on the 7th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to provide a total of 400 million won in liability insurance premiums to 287 travel agencies in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions that suffered direct damages such as travel product cancellations due to the Jeju Air incident.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also plans to promote insurance premium support for about 900 other tourism businesses in Gwangju and Jeonnam that did not suffer direct damages, through a supplementary budget.


In addition, together with the Korea Tourism Organization, special programs such as "Travel Month" events and Eco Rail Tours will be operated to attract local tourists, and the central government will be encouraged to hold major meetings and tourism events in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.


Previously, on the 21st of last month, Representative Min raised the difficulties faced by the Gwangju and Jeonnam travel industry during a Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee meeting, and led to a one-year deferment of the Tourism Promotion and Development Fund through questioning Minister Yoo Inchon.
