A Total of 1,750 Vehicles Eligible for Purchase Subsidies
Ulsan City is promoting a private electric vehicle distribution project this year to expand the supply of environmentally friendly vehicles.
Ulsan City announced the '2025 Private Electric Vehicle Distribution Project,' which includes support for electric vehicle purchase subsidies, and has begun accepting applications.
The scale of electric vehicle support this year is a total of 1,745 units: 1,550 passenger cars, 195 cargo vehicles, and 5 buses.
A total of 35.3 billion KRW will be invested in the 2025 project budget.
Purchase subsidies are provided differentially by vehicle type based on vehicle performance (fuel efficiency and driving range). The maximum subsidy per vehicle is △ 8.7 million KRW for passenger cars and △ 20.15 million KRW for small cargo vehicles.
Support has also been expanded to help actual users such as young first-time car buyers, multi-child families, and farmers consider electric vehicles.
For electric passenger cars, additional support was previously provided only to those below the lower-income bracket, but now a 20% additional subsidy is provided for young first-time buyers without income bracket requirements. Purchase support ranging from 1 million KRW to a maximum of 3 million KRW will continue based on the number of children in multi-child families. Additionally, a national subsidy of 2.5 million KRW will continue for those purchasing electric taxis. For families with two children under 18 years old, an additional 1 million KRW is provided; for three children, 2 million KRW; and for four or more children, 3 million KRW.
For electric cargo vehicles, an additional subsidy of up to 500,000 KRW is provided to those who owned diesel cargo vehicles and scrapped them after February 13, 2023, and then purchase an electric vehicle.
In particular, farmers receive an additional 10% national subsidy when purchasing.
Eligibility for application requires citizens who have had an address in Ulsan City for at least 60 days as of the application date or corporations and businesses with workplaces located in Ulsan City, to expand electric vehicle distribution starting this year.
The application method is for the buyer to sign a purchase contract with the vehicle manufacturer or importer, who then applies through the Ministry of Environment's Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Website.
An official from Ulsan City said, “As we expand the private distribution project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fine dust, we ask for the active participation of many citizens and companies in this electric vehicle distribution project.”
Last year, Ulsan City invested 19.3 billion KRW to support 1,332 electric passenger cars, 197 electric cargo vehicles, 57 electric buses, and 2 children's school vehicles.
