Focusing on passenger guidance through the expansion of Exits 6 and 9 and the deployment of safety assistants and elevator safety teams

Baekho, President of Seoul Metro, and Kim Seong-jun, Vice Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council Transportation Committee (Geumcheon 1·Democratic Party), announced on the 6th that they visited Gasan Digital Complex Station on Line 7 to discuss measures to alleviate congestion for citizen safety.

Gasan Digital Complex Station on Line 7 is a transfer point with Line 1 and is surrounded by dense office facilities, causing severe congestion during rush hours. Due to the narrow station structure, passenger safety issues have been continuously raised.

President Baekho and Vice Chairman Kim inspected the passenger flow and causes of congestion in the congested areas on the basement 1st floor concourse and basement 3rd floor during rush hours. They reviewed proposed congestion relief measures such as installing a ramp on the basement 1st floor and adding new gates, and also instructed to consider measures like painting stairs and flexible operation of escalators to guide passenger flow during peak times.

To alleviate congestion at Gasan Digital Complex Station, the corporation opened a new Exit 8 in June 2023 and is currently expanding Exits 6 and 9.

Additionally, they plan to proactively deploy subway safety assistants, senior elevator safety teams, and subway security officers to focus on guiding passengers during congested hours.

Vice Chairman Kim Seong-jun stated, “The congestion issue at Gasan Digital Complex Station requires continuous management and improvement. The Transportation Committee and the corporation will closely cooperate to actively support the development of effective improvement measures.”

President Baekho said, “To alleviate congestion during rush hours, we will assign dedicated personnel to manage passenger flow and promptly proceed with the construction of new and expanded exits to provide a safe and comfortable environment for citizens using Gasan Digital Complex Station.”
