Seeking Ways to Overcome Political Turmoil and Achieve Major Transformation
Discussion to Include "Constitutional Amendment" and "The Spirit of Kim Daejung"
The National Innovation Constitutional Amendment Citizens' Movement Headquarters announced on the 6th that it will hold a national forum to discuss the role of Gwangju City in the constitutional amendment for the Seventh Republic and the administrative reform tasks for the next government.
The forum will take place at 2 p.m. on the 10th at the multipurpose auditorium on the 9th floor of Jeonil Building 245 in Dong-gu, Gwangju, under the theme "Opening the Seventh Republic with the People." The event aims to explore ways to overcome repeated and escalating political turmoil and to seek methods for a major social transformation in response to the changes of the 21st century.
On this day, Lee Nakyon, former Prime Minister and current senior advisor of the Saemirae Democratic Party, will deliver the keynote speech. The keynote is expected to address the constitutional amendment and the current state of extreme political polarization.
Congratulatory remarks will be delivered by Lee Yongsup, former Mayor of Gwangju, and Jang Hogwon, co-chairman of the National Innovation Constitutional Amendment Citizens' Movement Headquarters.
The forum presentations will include: Professor Lee Youngjae (Hanyang University, Third Sector Research Institute) on "Our Future Depends on Constitutional Amendment," and Professor Kim Sunghwan (Department of Philosophy, Kunsan National University) on "Rebuilding the Democratic Republic with the Spirit of Kim Daejung."
Panelists will include Kim Sunryang, senior researcher at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology Law Research Institute, Park Chanyoung, professor at Mokpo National University, and Park Wongyun, former director of the Environmental Biological Resources Center.
