At the meeting, major changes to the 2025 taxi support projects were introduced, with particular emphasis on the need for budget securing and cooperation to effectively promote projects in each city and county.

The province plans to expand various taxi support projects to strengthen the competitiveness of the taxi industry. Key projects include raising the taxi card payment commission support standard from under 10,000 KRW to under 15,000 KRW, increasing the card terminal communication fee support amount from 2,200 KRW to 4,400 KRW, and raising the support volume for replacing old taxis from 1,800 units to 3,000 units.

To enhance the employment stability of taxi drivers, the taxi management and service evaluation, which was conducted biennially, will now be conducted annually. The incentive amount based on the evaluation will be increased from 1 billion KRW to 1.5 billion KRW, and the treatment improvement allowance for corporate taxi drivers will be raised from 100,000 KRW per month to 110,000 KRW per month. A new group insurance support project including injury coverage for corporate taxi drivers has also been newly established.

Gyeonggi Province requested additional budget securing and support from each city and county at this meeting to ensure smooth policy implementation. Through this, the province plans to strengthen support for the taxi industry and improve the quality of taxi services to provide better services to residents.

Kim Seong-hwan, head of the Gyeonggi Province Taxi Transportation Division, said, “We will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of the taxi industry and improve taxi services to play an even more important role as the feet of the common people,” adding, “We will continue to cooperate with cities and counties to lead the growth of the taxi industry.”
